Funds Raised for
San Francisco Ministry Plant. The funds for the campus
ministry plant in San Francisco have been raised, and God's fingerprints
are to be found everywhere! An enormous amount of money has been
pledged, and what many have said would be an impossible task to
accomplish has proven to indeed be possible when God's people come
together with winning souls in mind. Should we be surprised? Maybe
not, but I certainly still am! Thank you to all our friends and supporters
who are making this work possible. If you'd like to stay up to date with
the processes involved in this ministry plant, check out the San Francisco
ministry plant blog.
2008 CMU Workshop Proves to Be
a Record Breaker! Record
attendance for the 2008 CMU Workshop caused us to run out of seating the
first night, and forced workshop attendees to line the back walls just to
hear the opening speakers. This year's content certainly drew a crowd! But
here's the thing: we don't define success by how many people show
up to our events. We define success by the transformation we see in
the lives and ministries of those who do choose to attend, and by our
criteria - this year was another resounding success. We look forward to
many more - we're just getting started. Workshop pictures are posted in
the CMU Facebook group. Visit our audio/video
page to access all available 2008
lessons.

The 2009 CMU workshop was a
hit! Every year this event has grown, and 2009 was no exception
- all previous attendance records were broken. Worship was on fire,
great lessons were shared, much learning and growth took place, and
the company was great!
Here's a 30-second clip
of our worship service opening night:
The feedback we
got on workshop evaluation forms on Saturday night indicated
2009 has been the best year yet in terms of content. To listen to the
lessons from the 2009 CMU workshop, check out the CMU
audio/video page. Tons of lessons are available from 2009 as
well as previous years.
Thanks to everyone who helped make 2009
another successful workshop!
2010 is already being
planned - announcements regarding next year's workshop coming in the future.
2008 Update:
CMU
Plants Coast to Coast
"The harvest is plentiful, but
the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out
workers into his harvest field." Luke 10:2
The words of Jesus
are still true today, and here at CMU we're in the habit of praying
for harvesters.
With the world population totalling 6.5
billion, more people are living today than ever before. Tomorrow that
number will only increase! Today's universities are grooming the next
generation of leaders who are destined to influence every aspect of modern
society, and we believe it is God's will that all people be saved (1
Tim. 2:4).
Our goal, quite simply, is to impact global spirituality
in the name of Jesus by impacting tomorrow's global leaders through
establishing effective campus ministries. These ministries serve as
evangelistic outposts on the front lines of culture speaking the
message of Jesus Christ in truth and in love. We're not interested in
sheltering college students from Satan. On the contrary - we aim to make
them dangerous to him and work to claim souls for Christ
that Satan would otherwise claim for himself.
We believe we're in a battle, and are
pleased to report that since CMU was founded in 2005 three new evangelistic ministries
have formed in Miami, FL, Corpus
Christi, TX, and San Francisco, CA. Another minister
is currently in training preparing to plant in another location (yet to
be named).
Orlando & Devrena currently serve as
campus ministers through the Sunset Church of
Christ in Miami, FL. The Sunset Church decided to move into the realm
of campus ministry and hire a full time campus minister after CMU
board member Lynn Stringfellow met with their elders urging them to
do so.
To date, Orlando has been on staff with the Sunset church
for about two years, and several students are Christians today as a
result.
Orlando & Devrena, keep up the good
work!
Clint & Kelsey Hill - Christians In Action (CIA) - Corpus
Christi, Texas
Clint & Kelsey Hill arrived in Corpus Christi, TX, in June of 2008. Clint's experience in campus ministry began
several years ago having studied theology at Eastern New Mexico
University
while being part of the
campus ministry there.
The Hill's are part of a group starting a
new, evangelistically focused church targetting the Corpus campus of Texas A & M
University.
Several people have given their lives to Jesus just
this semester, and no doubt many more will in the future. The Lord is
doing amazing things in Corpus!

surrounding the Corpus Christi ministry plant, visit the CIA Corpus
blog

Wes & Airiel
Woodell - Christians In Action (CIA) - San Francisco,
California
Wes & Airiel Woodell were both converted to
Christ in Tampa, FL, through CIA Tampa. After spending a year in Tampa as a ministry
apprentice, Wes & Airiel moved to Searcy, AR, where Wes earned a
degree in Bible & Ministry from Harding
University.
During their time at Harding, the Woodells were
approached by Marvin Crowson, Harding faculty member and director of OutReach America,
about an opportunity to plant a campus ministry through a church seeking
revival in San Francisco, CA.
The Woodells plan to move to
San Francisco in January of '09 to work with the Lake Merced Church
of Christ in planting a campus ministry at San Francisco State University. While many individuals
and churches are involved in supporting the Woodells financially, their
work is officially sponsored and overseen by the Austin Avenue Church of
Christ
in Brownwood, TX.
For more information on the activities
surrounding the ministry plant in San Francisco, please visit the ministry
blog: West Coast
Witness.
Jeff Keely - Ministry Leader in
Training
Jeff Keely has been an active member of CIA Tampa for several years now and
formally became a ministry apprentice in July of '08. Jeff is
currently being groomed for ministry under the watchful eye of Lynn
Stringfellow and other leaders of the Bay Area Church of
Christ, and is interested in leading a future
CMU campus ministry or campus church plant.
